{"id":3636,"date":"2023-11-15T13:40:32","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T12:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/?page_id=3636"},"modified":"2025-02-11T12:59:23","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T11:59:23","slug":"3636-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/3636-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Minors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"s3\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">Minors may travel only with their own passports, separate from their parents&#8217; passports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">The issu<\/span><span class=\"s4\">e<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> of passports to minors <\/span><span class=\"s5\"><strong>always requires the consent of both parents<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">In addition, it is man<\/span><span class=\"s4\">datory<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> that, at the time of passport application, the minor&#8217;s birth certificate, if born abroad, has already been <\/span><span class=\"s4\">registered<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">in<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> the parent&#8217;s municipality of residence or AIRE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">Otherwise, before applying for a passport for the minor, parents must request the Consular Office to transmit the birth certificate to the municipality of residence in Italy (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/nascita\/\"><span class=\"s7\">birth<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s4\">). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">The appointment for passport issuance can be booked through the online platform prenot@mi<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\"><span class=\"s8\">piattaforma online prenot@mi<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s8\">)<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s12\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span class=\"s11\">Passport for minors (at the request of the parent or <\/span><span class=\"s11\">legal guardian<\/span><span class=\"s11\">):<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">Required documentation:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/BEIRUT-modulo_passaporto_minorenni-english-3.pdf\">application form<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0signed by both parents<\/span><span class=\"s4\">;<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">previous passport or, if it is a first passport, an Italian identity document (ID) or foreign passport, with photo and signature. If the passport has been lost\/stolen, a copy of the report must be filed with the competent Lebanese authorities at the alleged place of theft\/loss of the document;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">In case a parent cannot sign the application from, his\/her<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> written <a href=\"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/atto-di-assenso-per-minori-genitore-italiano-1.pdf\"><b>affidavit of consent<\/b> <\/a><\/span><span class=\"s4\">along with his\/her signature and photo ID (also photocopy). The act of assent is also required if the parents are not married or if they are separated or divorced. If one of the parents is not a citizen of one of the member countries of the European Union, the application form must be signed in the presence of the Consulate official upon presentation of an identity document. If one of the parents is deceased, a copy of the death certificate must be submitted. <\/span><span class=\"s4\"><b>The law does not allow exceptions to the act of consent<\/b>. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">In the abs<\/span><span class=\"s4\">ence of the other parent\u2019s affidavit<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, upon formal <\/span><span class=\"s4\">request <\/span><span class=\"s4\">by either party, a request may be made to the Head of the Consular Registry for the issuance of a consular decree in <\/span><span class=\"s4\">his<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> capacity of a tutelary judge. If the minor <\/span><span class=\"s4\">resides<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> in Italy, the competent court is the Juvenile Court of <\/span><span class=\"s4\">his\/her<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> place of residence; if the minor <\/span><span class=\"s4\">resides<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> in Lebanon, the competent authority is the Italian Embassy in Lebanon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">two (2) photographs <\/span><span class=\"s4\">compliant with<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> ICAO standards<\/span><span class=\"s4\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.poliziadistato.it\/statics\/10\/fotografia_passaporto_web.pdf\"><span class=\"s17\">https:\/\/www.poliziadistato.it\/statics\/10\/fotografia_passaporto_web.pdf<\/span><\/a>;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s18\"><b><u>Unaccompanied minors under the age of 14 years of age<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">Italian minors up to 14 years of age may travel abroad only if accompanied by at least one of their parents. He or she may travel accompanied by different persons only if authorised by the parents themselves through a <\/span><span class=\"s4\">travel consent<\/span><span class=\"s14\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> which must be <\/span><span class=\"s4\">stamped<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> by the Consular Representation (abroad) or the Questura (in Italy).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambbeirut.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Dichiarazione_accompagnamento_-3.pdf\"><span class=\"s4\"><b>declaration of accompaniment<\/b><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s4\"> must always clearly indicate the name and references of the person, entity or transport company to whom the child is entrusted for the trip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">Parents must sign the declaration of accompaniment by personally going to the Consular Chancellery (Consular Office) of the Italian Embassy in Beirut with an identity document.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s18\">Some important aspects:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">the declaration of accompaniment <\/span><span class=\"s4\">is limited to<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> one journey (<\/span><span class=\"s4\">round trip<\/span><span class=\"s4\">) from the child&#8217;s country of residence with a specified destination and may not normally exceed a maximum period of six months;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">the parents or the legal guardians<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> may indicate up to a maximum of two accompanying persons, who will, however, be alternative to each other;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">in the event that the minor is entrusted to an institution or transportation company, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">it is suggested<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> that before purchasing the <\/span><span class=\"s4\">airline<\/span><span class=\"s4\">&#8216;s ticket, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">you<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> should <\/span><span class=\"s4\">verify that<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> the company agrees that the minor is entrusted to it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"s13\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s18\">Required documents:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">Application form signed by both parents or one of them with the other<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> parent\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s4\">application issued separately. If one of the parents is not a citizen of one of the member countries of the European Union, the application form should be signed in the presence of the Consulate official upon presentation of an ID;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">the parents&#8217; passports or other <\/span><span class=\"s4\">identity document showing <\/span><span class=\"s4\">photo and signature;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">two (2) photographs <\/span><span class=\"s4\">compliant with<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> ICAO standards <\/span><span class=\"s4\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.poliziadistato.it\/statics\/10\/fotografia_passaporto_web.pdf\"><span class=\"s17\">https:\/\/www.poliziadistato.it\/statics\/10\/fotografia_passaporto_web.pdf<\/span><\/a>;<\/li>\n<li class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s4\">the <\/span><span class=\"s4\">minor&#8217;s previous passport <\/span><span class=\"s4\">(original) <\/span><span class=\"s4\">or other identity document if he\/she has it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"s16\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s4\">In the abs<\/span><span class=\"s4\">ence of the other parent\u2019s consent<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">it will be necessary to <\/span><span class=\"s4\">request the Head of the Consular <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Office<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> to issue a consular decree in <\/span><span class=\"s4\">his<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> capacity of a tutelary judge<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">upon formal <\/span><span class=\"s4\">request<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> by either party.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Minors may travel only with their own passports, separate from their parents&#8217; passports.
