During a meeting today with Lebanese officials and representatives of the United Nations, Italy announced the allocation of an additional humanitarian contribution of 10 million Euros (11,5 million USD) aimed at helping mitigate the effects of the crisis and responding to the most urgent needs of the communities affected by the conflict. 2 million are destined for the United Nations OCHA humanitarian fund, 2 to the Red Cross, and 6 to NGOs operating in Lebanon.

In addition, a humanitarian flight with 30 tons of materials for the displaced (medicine, food, and sanitary-hygienic material) is expected to land next week in Beirut. The assistance, provided in coordination with Lebanese authorities and UN humanitarian partners, will support ongoing efforts to deliver essential services and relief to the civilian population, in full respect of the humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and humanity.

Italy reiterates its solidarity with Lebanon and its people and remains committed to working closely with national authorities and the United Nations to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need.
