A ceremony took place today at the headquarters of the Roumieh Rangers Commando Regiment, to mark the conclusion of the course “Military Mountain Sport Competition Advisory”, organized by the Italian Military Bilateral Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) in favor of the Lebanese Armed Forces in the mountain area of EL ARZ – Les Cèdres.
Improving skiing techniques falls within a more structured training cycle for the acquisition, by the course attendees, of a full capacity of movement, combat and survival in mountain areas. The development of these training opportunities in favor of the Lebanese Armed Forces is at the center of the Italian Military Bilateral Mission’s tasks, operating in Lebanon since 2015 over all the Lebanese territory, and coordinating the activity of highly skilled training teams coming from the best departments and training institutes of the Italian Defense Forces.
The six-week training program was conducted by top Alpine ski instructors of the Italian Army and saw the participation of 41 trainees from the LAF Commando Regiment Mountain special units and El Arz Military Ski School. The best trainees selected during the course will represent Lebanon from 12 to 17 March at the Ski Championships of the Italian Army Alpine Troops, that will take place in Dobbiaco and San Candido in Northern Italy.
In the past few days, the Italian Ambassador Massimo Marotti, accompanied by the Italian Defense Attaché, General Monteduro, met the trainers and the trainees at the Military Ski School of El Arz, reaffirming Italy’s commitment to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.
