Italian Participation in CEDRE Conference

Today, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincenzo Amendola, has represented Italy at CEDRE conference in support of the Lebanese Economy.

The aim of the conference that saw the participation of delegations from 40 States and international financial organizations as well as private actors, in addition to the French President Macron and the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, is to raise around 10 billion dollars for the financing of Lebanon development programs.

In his speech, Undersecretary Amendola confirmed the finalization of two credit lines for a total value of € 120 million, which will allow the financing of major infrastructural interventions, with a “multiplier” effect, i.e. with a positive impact on the Lebanese economy.

Finally, the member of the Government recalled the role of Italian companies in the Lebanese economy: “We are the first EU partner to Lebanon and the second in absolute terms. Italian companies already have a significant experience in Lebanon, and I am confident that they will have an essential contribution to the modernization of the Lebanese infrastructure, in particular in the water, energy and wastewater sectors”.
