President Mattarella, together with Minister of Defence Roberta Pinotti, paid a visit to the Italian Contingent operating within UNIFIL in South Lebanon and met with the President of the National Assembly, Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Tammam Salam.
Mr. President of the Republic had also a meeting with the Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros El Rai.
Around 14:30, Mr. President delivered a brief statement to the Lebanese and Italian press at the VIP Pavilion of Rafic Hariri International Airport.
