MIBIL: Italian excellence at the service of the Presidential Guard

Yesterday, a ceremony took place at the premises of the Command Brigade of the Lebanese Presidential Guard to mark the conclusion of the “Presidential Guard Brigade Special Recruit Training – Train the Trainer course (Close Protection Team and Close Quarter Battle)”. The Ambassador of Italy, Nicoletta Bombardiere, the Italian Defense Attaché, Colonel Marco Zona, MIBIL Commander, Gen. Marcello Orsi and Lebanese military authorities attended the ceremony.

The four-week course, organized by the Italian bilateral military mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) allowed 24 members of the Presidential Guard, including 5 officers, to be trained by a Mobile Training Team composed of Italian instructors from Special Units of the Italian Armed Forces.

During the four weeks, theoretical and practical lessons were held on how the training phases have to be planned, organized and conducted. Lessons learned and consolidated during the previous cycles of the training process. The Lebanese participants were tested, under the careful and constant guidance of the Italian instructors, in the new role of “Trainers” in the shooting range, in the classroom or in the various training/operational scenarios in the field of protection and safety of the authorities or presidential places.

It is about the final phase of a training and selective process started in 2017 and structured on several phases (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and finally Train the Trainer). The final phase was successfully completed by adopting the most careful and scrupulous anti-contagion measures with weekly screening and continuous sanitation of classrooms, materials, weapons and means.
