- Registration in Italy of a Foreign divorce decreeIf you file for divorce abroad, you must register it in Italy with your comune of AIRE registration in order for it to be considered valid.
In order to do so, you may take an appointment at the Consular office, through the online platform https://prenotami.esteri.it/ and submit the following documents:
- Final Divorce decree (Judgement of Divorce) in original and certified copy, in French “Jugement définitif et exécutoire.”. The judgment must be in its full form, duly legalized and translated;
- Divorce certificate in original (not to be returned) issued by the office of civil status of the municipality of residence in Lebanon, duly legalized and translated
- documents proving the Italian citizenship of at least one of the divorcees (ID card, Italian passport or certificate of Italian citizenship);
- Divorce registration request form duly filled to register the divorce decree in the Italian Municipality (comune).
Once legalized at the Consular Office, divorce judgments may also be directly submitted to the municipality in Italy for registration.
