D’Alema in Beirut in the aftermath of the cessation of hostilities (14 August 2006)

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Massimo D’Alema, arrived in Lebanon from Rome on board of a military plane landed at the international airport of Beirut, which is still closed to commercial traffic. The first meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Fawzi Salloukh took place amid the rubble of the southern suburb of Beirut, and was followed by two other meetings with the President of the National Assembly, Nabih Berri, and Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
