Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)

If your passport has been lost or stolen, the Consular Office can issue a temporary travel document called E.T.D (Emergency Travel Document) with a validity of a few days from the date of issue. This document is only valid for your return to Italy or to the state of permanent residence or, exceptionally, to another destination.

Kindly note that in the Schengen area, as part of its commercial policies, some airlines

may allow boarding upon presentation of a report of passport theft or loss filed with the local Police Authorities.

In order to be issued the temporary travel document, the following documents should be submitted to the Consular Office of the Embassy:

  • report of passport theft or loss issued by the Lebanese Police (Internal Security Forces), legalized and translated accompanied by a photocopy of the lost/stolen passport and/or any other identity document;
  • report of passport loss or theft, made to the Consulate in accordance with Articles 46 and 47 and with the warnings of Article 76 of Presidential Decree 445/2000 (Application form).

Once the new travel document has been issued, you must report to the Immigration Office (Direction Générale de la Sûreté Générale) for a stamp necessary for your exit authorization from the country.
